About Dr. Lakia Kearson
Helping children, teens, and young adults thrive through compassionate neuropsychological care.
I am a pediatric neuropsychologist licensed in Pennsylvania and New Jersey who works with children, adolescents, and young adults facing developmental, medical, and neurological conditions. I specialize in comprehensive neuropsychological assessments for attention, executive functioning, and learning challenges, including dyslexia and other learning disabilities. My goal is to help families understand the connection between brain function and behavior, while providing recommendations that highlight strengths and address challenges.
Extensive Clinical Training
Doctorate – Clinical Psychology (Neuropsychology concentration), Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine
Fellowship – Two-year Postdoctoral Fellowship, Pediatric Neuropsychology, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
Additional Training – Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia & Franciscan Children’s Hospital
My training included extensive work with children and young adults managing cancer, sickle cell disease, genetic syndromes, and other medically complex conditions, as well as learning and attention difficulties.
Rooted in School Experience
Before pursuing advanced clinical training, I worked for several years as a school psychologist. I conducted psychoeducational evaluations, assisted in the development of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), and collaborated closely with parents, teachers, and school teams. These experiences reinforced my belief that recommendations must be not only clinically sound but also practical and effective in educational settings.
A Strengths-Based Approach
More Than a Diagnosis
In my practice, I strive to provide families with more than just a label. My focus is on delivering clear, personalized strategies that foster growth, resilience, and confidence—at home, at school, and in the community.
Outside the Office
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my Cockapoo, Atlas, and traveling to Florida to visit my family. These moments keep me grounded and remind me of the importance of balance and connection.
